Heartbreaking Update on UPS Crash: Death Toll Climbs to 13

The number of fatalities resulting from the UPS cargo plane which ignited and crashed has climbed to 13, according to latest reports.

Mayor's Remarks

“On my way to the Teamsters’ memorial service, I learned of a 13th person that died as a result of the aircraft incident,” wrote the city mayor in a public communication. “My thoughts is with the families, associates and peers of all who were taken in this week’s calamity. We will endure this together.”

Victims Named

A release from UPS listed the flight crew operating the jet as Captain Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our thoughts are extended to every UPSer who has been affected and all in our Louisville community – helping you and guaranteeing you obtain the attention and aid you need is our main concern,” the organization’s communication expressed.

Inquiry Updates

Government investigators revealed that the UPS cargo plane’s left wing burst into flames and an engine fell off just after departure from the airfield, resulting in the aircraft to fall and erupt into a inferno.

The National Transportation Safety Board has said it is examining the aircraft’s service record, that was in Texas for maintenance weeks prior to the crash.

Aviation information revealed the aircraft was on the runway in that location from 3 September to mid-October.

“We are knowledgeable that this plane was there in that city,” stated an NTSB member on later, without providing a specific date range. “We will review every piece of repairs that was completed, even the repair period, right up to the date of the trip.”

Findings of Key Components

The audio device and information unit were recovered, and the engine was discovered on the tarmac.

The recorders – known as black boxes – were designed to withstand crash impacts and severe heat from blazes, and they seemed to be undamaged when found among the remains. Officials plan on analyzing recordings from the recorders.

The plane’s final flight details showed an elevation of 475 ft and a speed of 210 miles per hour prior to the impact.

Maintenance History

According to FAA records from last month, a crack on a structural piece within the tank area demanded fixes.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which stated it offers aircraft servicing for the carrier’s aircraft and runs a service location in that city, chose not to comment, but stated it would assist completely when relevant authorities contacted it.

Services Continue

At the same time, the hub services restarted last night with its overnight also known as night sort process, representative Jim Mayer stated. Each of the three runways at the airport were likewise reopened.

The sorting center in Louisville is the organization’s biggest. The center hires more than a large number of people in the locality, processes three hundred aircraft each day and processes over four hundred thousand packages per hour.

Local Reaction

A candlelight vigil was held on the late afternoon of that date by the area worker’s group, which represents employees at the airfield, the company’s biggest shipping facility.

The union chapter, which supports UPS workers, started the vigil with a period of reflection at 5.14pm, the rough hour of the crash two days earlier.

“This incident was so abrupt, so unforeseen,” the leader told the assembly of 200. “No one had a chance to part to any of those who we have said farewell to.”
